Frequently Asked Questions and Help
|
Q: What do I have to do to qualify for help from Silver Key? A: You must be 60 years of age or older to qualify for our programs. Most of our programs require that you be a resident of the city of Colorado Springs or Manitou Springs. Call Silver Key at 884-2300 to speak to the department that handles the service you are interested in to verify if there are any other eligibility requirements.
Q: Why do you have program fees and ask for financial contributions? A: Silver Key is a local, non-profit organization, but it does cost money for us to provide the services. We feel everyone wants the dignity of being able to pay for what they need; however if you cannot afford basic needs, we have social workers that will help make sure you can afford such things as food, housing and medical care.
Q: Why don't you offer same day transportation, I sometimes don't know until the last minute when I need to go somewhere? A: Unfortunately, we transport over 200 people daily to various appointments and it takes us several days to schedule and route all those trips. Occasionally, we'll have some volunteers who have offered to transport for emergencies on some days, but we can not always guarantee this will happen. We do promise to do our best to get a ride for any emergency.
