Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP)Commodities Supplemental Food Program

These food boxes allow seniors to stretch their food dollars further by supplementing their diets with a variety of foods, such as: nonfat dry and ultra-high temperature fluid milk, juice, farina, oats, ready-to-eat cereal, rice, pasta, peanut butter, dry beans, canned meat or poultry or fish, and canned fruits and vegetables.

CSFP Eligibility:
60 years or older and reside in Colorado Springs, El Paso County area. Seniors must apply in person and be approved following the application process. Documentation required for all residing in the home: Identification, Proof of Address (if different than identification), and Proof of Income.

Registered Dietitian:

Silver Key works with a Registered Dietician to prepare all our menus, provides nutrition education and free nutritional consultations. For an appointment with our dietician, Nadine Carlile, please contact the Silver Line, (719) 884-2300.

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)

These food supplies allow seniors to stretch their food dollars further by supplementing their diets with a variety of foods, such as: nonfat dry milk, rice, peanut butter, cereal, pasta, beans, canned fruits and vegetables, canned meat, dried fruit and a variety of other foods. These items vary and are on a “first come, first serve basis” until items run out.

TEFAP Eligibility:
Documentation required: Identification, Proof of Residence (if different than identification).
Only one person per household is eligible and cannot be combined with any other community distribution program.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
In partnership with Care & Share, individuals over the age of 60 can apply for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefit (SNAP/previously known as food stamps) at Silver Key Senior Assistance instead of going to the Department of Human Services. Call 719-884-2300 for an appointment.

Emergency Food Pantry

With donations of food and necessities from the community, Silver Key also assists seniors who do not qualify for government food assistance in an emergency situation.

The new applicants and emergency food will be Monday – Friday, 9am - 4pm.

How to Enroll:

Contact the Silver Line at 719- 884-2300 and request a referral to our Food Pantry.
After a referral is sent from our Silver Line, a Food Pantry staff will contact you in a timely fashion to discuss eligibility, provide information about our Food Pantry Programs, and answer any questions.
