Activities Director

Silver Key now hiring an Activities Director. The Activities Director is responsible for developing, coordinating and supervising a senior activities program based on the needs of older adults. Activities may include reading groups; creative activities such as arts, crafts and music; health and wellness activities such as classes and seminars, exercise programs, and outdoor activities such as hikes.

  •  Develops a program of activities for older adults age 60 and over that is meaningful and
    enjoyable for the clients, ensuring all programs are age-appropriate and safe
  • Research client needs through various means such as surveys; interviews with clients and
    community members; and outreach to other service providers
  •  Develops collaborations with community organizations where appropriate
  • Frequently evaluates programs for efficacy
  •  Participates in the preparation of budgets; manages the budget
  • Manages and trains staff and volunteers, keeps required agency records
  •  Secures outside talent for providing activities and classes; manages these resources
  • Performs individual assessments of seniors prior to acceptance or placement in an activity,
    where applicable
  •  Works with other community organizations, human service agencies and other resources to
    provide programming
  • Coordinates and communicates with Silver Key Marketing staff for the development of
    promotional materials and press releases
  • Acts as the “public face” of the senior activities programs, requiring frequent communication
    within the community, with Silver Key staff and volunteers
  • Performs hands-on duties such as talking to seniors, conducting classes, tracking schedules,
    etc.
  •  Volunteer engagement
  •  Other duties as assigned

Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.), preferably in human services, gerontology and/or management;
or equivalent combination of training and experience

Experience/Qualifications: At least two to three years of experience in working with older adults;
well-versed in senior programs, trends and practices; ability to work within and track to a budget;
certification in first aid and CPR required or ability to obtain certification

Work Conditions: This is a full-time exempt position

About the Agency: Silver Key Senior Services is a nonprofit organization that provides multiple
services to seniors in the Colorado Springs community. Silver Key’s services include Senior
Assistance (information, referrals, case management, guardianship, and emergency food pantry),
Reserve & Ride (transportation), Connections Cafe (group dining), and Home Delivered Meals
including Meals on Wheels. Silver Key’s mission is to serve in partnership with our stakeholders to
support quality of life for seniors – allowing them the choice of safely aging in place with
dignity and independence.
