Silver Key provides two food programs to improve health of the low-income elderly. Distribution of government food assistance to supplement a senior’s diet.
Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP)
These food boxes allow seniors to stretch their food dollars further by supplementing their diets with a variety of foods, such as; nonfat dry and ultra-high temperature fluid milk, juice, farina, oats, ready-to-eat cereal, rice, pasta, peanut butter, dry beans, canned meat or poultry or fish, and canned fruits and vegetables.
60 years or older and reside in Colorado Springs, El Paso County area. Must apply and be approved. Seniors must apply in person and be approved following the application process. Documentation required for all residing in the home: Identification, Proof of Address (if different than identification), and Proof of Income.
The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)
These food supplies allow seniors to stretch their food dollars further by supplementing their diets with a variety of foods, such as; nonfat dry milk, rice, peanut butter, cereal, pasta, beans, canned fruits and vegetables, canned meat, dried fruit and a variety of other foods.
*These items vary and are on a “first come, first serve basis” until items run out.
Seniors over 60 must apply in person and be approved following the application process. Documentation required: Identification, Proof of Residence (if different than identification).
Only one person per household is eligible and cannot be combined with any other community distribution program.
