Seniors Can’t Afford to Wait—And Neither Can We
For far too long, the pressing needs of older adults have been underfunded and overlooked. Millions of seniors nationwide are waiting—waiting for nutritious meals, waiting for moments of connection, waiting for America to care.
The reality is stark:
- Nearly 13 million seniors worry about having enough food.
- 56% feel lonely—an epidemic with serious health consequences.
- 1 in 3 Meals on Wheels providers has a waitlist, with an average wait time of four months.
- 97% of local providers know there are seniors in their community who need meals but aren’t being served.
Leaving seniors to wait for essential needs isn’t just unjust—it’s costly. Food insecurity contributes to $78 billion in health care costs annually, while social isolation adds $6.7 billion to Medicare spending.
Silver Key is proud to serve our community as a local Meals on Wheels provider, delivering nearly 30,000 hot, nutritious meals each year to seniors who need them most. Many older adults face food insecurity and isolation, and the rising cost of food and operations makes it more challenging to meet this growing need.
We’re working tirelessly to bridge these gaps, but we can’t do it alone. Your support helps ensure no senior is left hungry or isolated.
Together, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of seniors in our community. Join us in celebrating March for Meals and ensuring no senior goes hungry or feels alone.
