Silver Key Welcomes New Partner in Senior Advocacy

 Silver Key acquires Tri-Lakes Silver Alliance in a merger that expands services, activities, and fellowship opportunities in the northern El Paso County area immediately and in the future.

Colorado Springs, CO—Silver Key Senior Services and Tri-Lakes Silver Alliance (TLSA), Monument, Colorado, have merged into one organization. TLSA will continue to operate under the new name Silver Key at Tri-Lakes Senior Center (SKATLSC) at their current location on the west campus of Lewis-Palmer High School where Monument, Palmer Lake, and Woodmoor seniors have gathered for varied programs seven days a week since 2006. Later this summer, SKATLSC will move to its new location at the multi-purposed Grace Best Education Center. Governance of the former TLSA will transition to the Silver Key Board of Directors with input from an appointed advisory board on Tri-Lake related matters. 

“This project expands our commitment to service expansion throughout the Pikes Peak region in order to better serve all seniors across all neighborhoods,” said Derek Wilson, Chief Strategy Officer for Silver Key. “We are thrilled to build upon the great work started by TLSA and broaden services in this rapidly growing area.”

The carefully considered merger will expand services, activities, and fellowship opportunities in the Tri-Lakes area immediately and in the future. In deciding to merge, both Silver Key and TLSA leadership’s considerations were focused on client benefits and the confidence that together they make for a better organization so that they can reach more older adults with high-quality care and services. 

The mutually beneficial arrangement began before the formal merger when TLSA partnered with Silver Key to provide local area van service, meals, and Five Wishes training to seniors of the Tri-Lakes area. TLSA leadership looks forward to utilizing the resources of Silver Key now that they are part of the same family including expanded behavioral health offerings.

“There’s so much we can do because of this merger.  The two distinct volunteer groups will learn from each other. Fundraising and grant writing, so important to non-profit service organizations, will be greatly aided by the merger, and so much more” stated Melissa Bagnall, TLSA Board President. 

The timing of the merger is appropriate as Silver Key hosts the region’s first Senior Summit on Wednesday, June 15th.  Silver Key, in partnership with the Pikes Peak Senior News, invites the community to a full day of festivities on Wednesday, June 15th to support the Pikes Peak region senior community.  Event admission and parking are available at no cost; however, advance registration is required.  Held at the Antlers Hotel-Downtown, the Summit begins with a morning by-invitation benefit breakfast with proceeds supporting area seniors.  The day’s come-and-go as you please (open to all) experience will then continue with expo vendors, health screenings, valuable information sessions, giveaways, refreshments, and more! 

Over 70+ vendors will be in attendance showcasing their resources, and attendees will be able to visit with each vendor, participate in health checks, partake in helpful information sessions from area experts on a wide variety of aging-related topics, and be inspired by dynamic speakers on all things aging and senior related.

Silver Key at Tri-Lakes Senior Center and other exciting happenings will all be part of the conversation at the upcoming Summit.
