SILVER KEY NEEDS HELP TO “STOCK THE PANTRY”!
May 5, 2016, Colorado Springs, CO — The shelves in the Silver Key pantry are getting dangerously low and we need your help to fill them. For more than forty years, Silver Key Senior Services has been providing much needed nutrition assistance to seniors in crisis in the greater Colorado Springs area and the need continues to grow as the senior population increases. While Silver Key works hard to meet the growing demand, we cannot help without the support of our community. This month, we are asking you to help us “Stock the Pantry”!
Food Items Needed:
Canned Tomato Products, Peanut Butter/Jelly, Canned Fruits/Vegetables, Cereals, Canned Meats, Pasta/Rice/Crackers, Low or No Salt Items, Gluten Free Items, and Sugar Free Items
Hygiene Items Needed:
Toilet Paper, Paper Towels, Shampoo/Conditioner (small bottles), Deodorant, Toothpaste/Toothbrushes, Lotion, Baby Powder, Tissues
Donations of non-perishable food items and hygiene products can be dropped off at the Silver Key office, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am — 5:00 pm. Your donation will help us provide much needed emergency food and hygiene products to seniors.
Each month, Silver Key provides nutrition assistance to more than 1000 seniors. Our Nutrition Programs consist of two federal food programs; Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) and The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), the Pantry program for clients meeting financial requirements but also having dietary restrictions, and the Emergency Pantry, a one-time assistance for seniors not currently enrolled in a program and having a dire need.
