Silver Key Makes Move from West Side

SK_Bott_BldgJuly 19, 2016, On August 1, 2016, Silver Key Senior Services will officially move to its new home at 1605 — 1655 S. Murray ending more than 38 years as a west side resident. Since 1978, Silver Key has occupied the buildings at the corner of Bott and Robinson, providing transportation, nutrition, and case management assistance to seniors in the greater Colorado Springs area.

The last day for case management and pantry assistance at the Bott location is July 27th. After that date, all client services will originate from the S. Murray campus.

SK_Logo_S_Murray_SignThe decision to move to a new location was made more than three years ago, after it was determined that the Bott location was not adequate to meet the need of the quickly expanding senior population. The building had gone through a few renovations over the years, but more work was needed. An extensive search began and the campus on S. Murray was deemed to be the best choice.

The renovation, build-out, and move was originally planned to take place in phases over a two — three year period with Phase I of the build-out and renovation of the new commercial kitchen completed in September 2015. At that time both Meals on Wheels and the Golden Circle Nutrition Programs began operating from the S. Murray campus. The sale of the Bott property has moved the timeline for relocation up by a year.

Since 1971, Silver Key has provided vital services to seniors in our community, allowing them to live independently, with safety, dignity and respect. The legacy of caring and excellent customer service will continue after the move but from a welcoming, senior-friendly space with room to grow.
