SILVER KEY AWARDED AMERICORPS $75,000 GRANT IN 2021 TO SUPPORT SENIOR VOLUNTEER SERVICE IN COLORADO SPRINGS
Call to action for AmeriCorps Senior RSVP Volunteers
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: APRIL 19, 2021
Silver Key Senior Services has been awarded a $75,000 grant from AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP (Retired “and” Senior Volunteer Program), as one of 17 organizations in Colorado to receive a federal grant. This grant supports seniors ages 55 and older who want to volunteer with Silver Key supporting aging adults in our community. The focus of this program is to help seniors, including veterans and military families, live independently through healthy futures.
“I am confident that these resources will bolster and support the mission of improving the lives of our friends and neighbors across the state, especially our senior citizens. Seniors play an important role in our society: they are our leaders, our teachers, and most important, our family members,” said John Hickenlooper, United States Senator from Colorado.
During this historic pandemic, Silver Key has recruited and trained more than 200 additional volunteers to serve meals, provide food and transportation, support senior health and wellness programs, and daily calls of reassurance while remaining fully operational for senior clients per El Paso County COVID guidelines.
